East Mississippi Release Paths
East Mississippi Correctional Facility, or EMCF, is a state correctional facility in Lauderdale County. Management & Training Corporation operates it under contract, while the Mississippi Department of Corrections exercises direct oversight. It is not part of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's jail system. The county's rolling 48-hour released list does not cover movements from EMCF.
A person may leave secure confinement for parole, earned release supervision, full sentence discharge, conditional medical release, or transfer to another MDOC institution. Parole and ERS place a person in the community while legal control continues. ERS is especially easy to misread because Mississippi law keeps the participant under MDOC jurisdiction and inmate status through sentence expiration. A transfer ends confinement at EMCF but not state custody.
Confirm East Mississippi Releases
Start at the MDOC Inmate and Parolees Search. Use the MDOC ID when available. A name search should be checked against birth information, physical details, conviction county, sentence data, location, and unit. A current Location can show another prison or a community-supervision unit. A different location may represent transfer rather than release.
- Search the Inmate tab by MDOC ID or first and last name.
- Open the matching detail and compare identity, sentences, location, unit, and location-change date.
- Read Tentative Release Date only as MDOC's current projection.
- Check the Parolees tab for a post-prison supervision record.
- Review the MS SAVIN event and ask MDOC Records for actual release or discharge documents when the status is unclear.
The official MDOC detail interface shows the exact label used for a projected date.

The field does not certify that someone left EMCF. Residence approval, detainers, classification, credits, Parole Board action, and processing can still affect the outcome.
East Mississippi Release Processing
MDOC calculates a state sentence from the judgments, sentence-begin date, valid county-jail credit, and whether terms run at the same time or one after another. It then applies the law governing the offense and sentence date, including mandatory portions, parole or ERS eligibility, earned credits, forfeitures, and any exclusions. A later court order, new sentence, warrant, detainer, residence review, or Parole Board action can change the result. The public detail shows an output from that work, not the full computation.
Section 47-5-138 describes earned time for qualifying sentences and is the source of the common 85-percent shorthand. The rule is not universal. Offense type, sentence date, habitual status, sex or violent-offense limits, lost credits, and other provisions can control instead. An ERS date also does not compel departure. Classification review, conduct, residence approval, and release processing remain part of the decision.
MDOC says parole and ERS dates are not guaranteed. The case manager tells the person the actual release date, verifies travel plans, and release processing can take 30 to 45 days. A discharge certificate must be issued. If the displayed date passes, check Location, Parolees Search, MS SAVIN, and Records instead of announcing that release occurred.
The MDOC release-processing FAQ supplies the agency guidance captured below.

The FAQ reinforces that a tentative date and completed release are separate events, with the final movement and discharge papers providing the stronger proof.
East Mississippi Status Meanings
MDOC public records contain several dates and statuses. Keep each tied to the event it describes. Entry Date begins state custody. Location Change Date records a movement. Parole eligibility is the first point at which consideration may occur. Tentative Release Date is an output from sentence computation. An actual movement to parole or ERS marks release from secure confinement. A discharge date or certificate can establish the end of state authority.
| Status | What it establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| EMCF location | State placement shown by MDOC | A fixed future release date |
| Tentative Release Date | Current MDOC projection | Actual gate departure |
| Parole | Community release under conditions | Complete discharge |
| ERS unit | Community placement under MDOC | End of inmate status |
| New MDOC location | Movement within state custody | Community release |
| Discharge certificate | Final agency evidence of discharge | A county jail release event |
A legacy MDOC example showed CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI EARNED RELEASE SUPERVISION with a LAUDERDALE ERS unit. It illustrates that a person can live in Lauderdale County outside prison while still classified under MDOC authority.
East Mississippi Release Records
If the online detail does not answer the question, use MDOC's public-records procedure or contact its Records Department. A focused request can seek the discharge certificate, releasable time computation, actual release or discharge date, location history, and offender photograph where applicable. The public tentative date is not a substitute for those records.
Include the person's full name and MDOC ID, identify East Mississippi Correctional Facility, state the approximate movement date, and name the documents sought. Ask for an electronic response and a cost estimate. Mississippi public-record fees may cover actual search, review, duplication, and delivery costs. Medical records require authorization or a court order and should not be folded into a general release request.

MDOC's FAQ says a person must receive a discharge certificate before release processing is complete. When an online date conflicts with current status, the certificate, movement record, or direct Records confirmation carries more weight.
East Mississippi Facility Contact
The official MDOC facility page lists East Mississippi Correctional Facility at 10641 U.S. Highway 80 West, Meridian, Mississippi 39307, with telephone number 601-485-5255. The facility page is the source for the institution's location and operating relationship. MDOC Records, rather than Lauderdale County Inmate Records, is the correct state release-record custodian.

The official EMCF source identifies the state facility and its contact information.

No official EMCF gate-release time, property-pickup procedure, family waiting area, or facility-specific public release list was found. Call about a specific operational question rather than borrowing the county jail's procedures.
Parole and ERS in Lauderdale
The Mississippi State Parole Board has authority to grant or revoke parole, while MDOC computes eligibility and supervises parolees. Eligibility, a hearing, a grant, physical release, and final discharge are separate stages. The Board's hearings are closed to the public under its rules, and no public online hearing calendar or decisions database was verified. A past eligibility date does not prove release from EMCF.
Earned Release Supervision operates differently. For qualifying people, section 47-5-138 can allow community placement before sentence expiration while MDOC jurisdiction and inmate status continue. Credits, exclusions, conduct, sentence date, offense, residence approval, detainers, and later action all matter. Do not apply a flat 85-percent shortcut without the individual time record.
Lauderdale post-release supervision records identify the local office and the order for checking parole, probation, and ERS. A local office can route a question, but disclosure limits may prevent confirmation of every condition or address.
MS SAVIN for East Mississippi
MS SAVIN uses VINE and VINELink for MDOC events and participating county jails. Search Mississippi, match the person and supplying agency, open the record, and read the exact event. A release event reflects an agency update. A transfer event means custody changed hands. Several close movements may produce more than one message.
Notification enrollment may offer phone, text, or email through the live interface. Follow the current confirmation steps and create a PIN only if the service asks for one. An alert is not a certified sentence record. Confirm it through MDOC status, the case manager information shared by the person, Records, or the discharge certificate. If VINELink is unavailable, its help line is 1-866-277-7477.
Note: VINE provides a useful movement alert, but MDOC owns the controlling East Mississippi sentence and discharge record.
Two Lauderdale Release Systems
EMCF and the Lauderdale County Detention Facility sit in the same county but serve different jurisdictions. The sheriff jail holds county detainees and publishes a short released view. EMCF holds state offenders and reports through MDOC. A county bond release may never appear in MDOC. An EMCF parole or ERS movement will not enter the sheriff's 48-hour list.
When the last custodian is uncertain, follow the record chain. Check the sheriff's Current and Released views for a local booking, then MDOC for a state transfer. Compare MS SAVIN events, court sentencing records, and the agency named as receiving custody. The Lauderdale County released inmates search explains how county, state, court, and federal sources fit together without treating a roster absence as release.
This split is more than a choice between two websites. Lauderdale County Inmate Records can establish an exact county-jail departure and receiving agency, while MDOC Records can establish state movement, time computation, parole or ERS placement, and final discharge. Keep the facility name and custodian attached to every date so a county timestamp is never presented as an EMCF discharge.
A person can move from the county jail into MDOC custody before arriving at EMCF or another state location. The county transfer entry should identify the handoff, while the MDOC Entry Date and Location history document the state side. Neither record alone should be stretched beyond the agency that created it.
